Guardian, Sariri Community, Transformative Education
Cecilia Pinedo Soruco has dedicated 21 years to the study of ancestral worldview, especially that of the Aymara culture. She is part of the Sariri Community, where for two decades, they've disseminated these teachings through talks, conferences, media, and educational materials. In 2003, they began imparting their culture and values to children and youth, facing challenges due to the influence of the school and society that hindered their continuity. To address this, they engaged families in weekly talks, achieving interesting progress, although formal education still held greater impact.
In 2016, their cherished project of establishing a formal school was realized, starting with initial levels and growing progressively. With 100 students presently, the school stands out for fostering pride in the identity and culture of the children, and incorporating practices such as meditation, chi kung, and kung fu. As the Academic Director, in collaboration with Fernando, the General Director, Cecilia leads the Kung Fu School, while they continue to strengthen teacher training and support parents in raising the students.
